Sam Payne, PWS
Ecologist, Wildlife biologist, ISA Certified Arborist®
Sam has a diverse natural resource background with specialized experience managing and restoring wetlands and streams, forest ecosystems, and other wildlife habitats. With a passion for the conservation of nature, Sam works to balance the needs of society and the environment by supporting projects with ecological assessments and design. Prior to joining DCG/Watershed, Sam gathered scientific data for the State’s Aquatic Reserves as a member of the Washington Department of Natural Resources’ Puget SoundCorps team and worked as a consulting wetland biologist.
Outside of DCG/Watershed Sam spends much of his free time appreciating and hiking the outdoors, traveling, gardening, cycling, woodworking, and spending time with his wife and son.
